Honda Engine
A 124cc 2-valve SOHC single-cylinder air-cooled engine of the CB125F, which meets EURO5 specifications, was designed from the ground up to maintain peak performance for crowded city streets while also exhibiting extreme thrift and dependability.
Peak torque of 10.9 Nm and peak power of 8kW are produced at 7,500 and 6,000 rpm, respectively. 50 x 63.1 mm is the bore and stroke, and the compression ratio is 10.0:1. More significantly, the fuel efficiency is 66.7 km/l, meaning that an 11L fuel tank can potentially cover more than 700 km of driving at a standing start acceleration of over 200 m in 12.4 seconds.
Over the past eight years, Honda has refined the engineering that goes into its eSP engines and have used them in an expanding variety of 125cc scooters. The goal is to integrate low-friction technology and a clean sheet of engineering into every aspect of the engine.
And weight is the first step in it. The 2021 upgrade resulted in a 7kg weight reduction for the eSP engine. Its offset cylinder reduces friction between the piston skirt and bore, and an oil jet cooling the piston from below further reduces friction. Rocker-roller arms with needle bearings are used to operate valves.
The eSP formula also includes an Alternating Current Generator (ACG), which reduces weight and streamlines layout by combining starting functions with electricity generation. A decompression mechanism that eliminates cranking resistance from compression and a swing-back system that puts the crank back in position before the air intake allow the engine to start “running” and with less effort. The ACG starter is incredibly quiet when in use. There is a sealed chain final drive and a five-speed gearbox.
Chassis
The tubular frame is made of high-tensile steel. Its geometry strikes the ideal balance between ride comfort and straight-line stability, emphasising light steering input and a sporty feel at all lean angles. The engine is suspended from a robust central spine. With a wheelbase of 1,285mm and a wet weight of only 116kg, the rake and trail are set at 26° and 92.4mm.
Suspension
The compliance and ride quality of the 30mm diameter telescopic fork are enhanced by the dual rear shocks, which provide a 5-step spring preload adjustment. The fashionable 18-inch die-cast aluminium split-spoke front and rear wheels also improve stability and ride quality on winding city streets.
Tyres
The front and rear tyres have sizes of 80/100 and 100/80, respectively.
Brakes
A 130mm rear drum provides backup for a single piston calliper operating on a 240mm front disc. Because of the Combined Braking System, when the rear brake is engaged, some force is also applied to the front brake.
Style
The aggressive styling of the CB125F is reminiscent of the bigger bikes in the CB family. The CB-R Neo Sports Café family is the inspiration for the broad-shouldered fuel tank and silver-finished shrouds in particular. The angular nose fairing and blacked-out fly screen offer some wind deflection and a more aggressive stance.
Lights
In addition, it has an LED headlight and a digital dash that shows the important data, such as a gear position indicator, average and real-time fuel economy, distance to empty, and an ECO indicator for when to ride as efficiently as possible. Both the high beam/passing switch and the start/stop button are integrated switches.
Exhaust
The engine, exhaust downpipe, fork lowers and wheels are blacked out, underlining the strong lines and bold paintwork. The muffler too, 45mm shorter for 2024 model , is blacked out and finished in a new near full length chrome heat shield. Bright red detailing is to be found on the shock springs and spark plug HT cap. Other quality finishing touches include 3D Honda Wings on the shrouds and mirror/indicator shaping that emulates the design language of the whole machine.
Seat
Two adults can fit comfortably in the seat thanks to its 15mm higher height (790mm); a centre stand and a passenger grab rail are also standard. For 24YM, the passenger grab rail is now made of aluminium for a more upscale appearance. designed to be used as a daily commuter, a starting point for motorcycle riding, and a mainstay of riding schools. Its upright and relaxed riding position is enhanced by forward-set footpegs and wide tubular handlebars that provide maximum control, rider confidence, and all-around visibility.
