KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R Engine
With 1,350 cc, 190 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, and 145 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, the numbers speak for themselves. It also has a new, aggressive appearance that goes along with its ferocious ability to tear up the asphalt. Despite its impressive numbers, what really gives it more power is how well it distributes power.
Lights
A dramatic aposematic evolution of THE BEAST for 2024 sends a strong warning to anyone brave enough to face it. The new LED headlight unit takes center stage, and new tank spoilers and winglets make a statement about how this vehicle should not be tampered with. The brake light is eliminated by a further reduced subframe cover, giving the ride and appearance an even more angular, pure appearance. The KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R appears more aggressive and muscular than ever thanks to a lower overall profile that highlights the small chassis. Put simply, KTM decreased the altitude while increasing the attitude.
Fuel Capacity
The updated fuel tank has an overall capacity of 17.5 liters, an increase of 1.5 liters over the previous model, thanks to a redesigned air intake and airbox. In addition to increasing the riding range to about 300 km, this serves a crucial ergonomic purpose. Every panel has been optimized for thickness and minimized wherever feasible in the quest for grams, with new tank spoilers and added winglets increasing downforce.
The most striking visual feature, though, is the lightweight and “smart” headlight design. It gives the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R an all-new, aggressive glare, and weighs almost 700 g less than the previous model. It also has an alien-like design. The headlight’s profile houses the position and daytime running lights. A light sensor built into the dashboard enables the headlight to automatically adjust its intensity based on the amount of ambient light.
Additionally, Coming Home light functionality is a standard feature on the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R and KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R EVO. In this case, the headlight will stay on for improved ambient visibility even after the ignition is turned off. This offers a certain level of safety when parking in dimly lit areas in addition to illuminating the surroundings.
An enlarged heart was necessary for this vicious BEAST to maintain its muscular posture. boasting an improved LC8 to further establish its position as the leader. An all-new cam shift integrated on the cylinder heads allows for an engine displacement of 1,350 cc with a bore increase to 110 mm. In order to comply with the most recent EURO 5+ emission regulations, this offers increased power and torque across the entire rpm range and permits more differentiated fuel mapping.
Tires
The new lightweight MICHELIN Power GP tires with dual-compound technology and the fully adjustable WP APEX shock absorber—which offers toolless pre-load adjustment, rebound control, and independent adjustments for high and low speed—help put that power to the ground. Better pressure balance from improved DCC settings means less compromise between suspension comfort and performance, while optimized settings are provided by a new 48 mm WP APEX Open Cartridge fork with split function.
Suspension
But with the most recent version of WP Semi-Active Technology (SAT), the suspension management on the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R EVO is elevated to a whole new level. With electronically controlled magnetic valves for variable damping, this suspension system is the most advanced on the market and offers a wide range of adjustability, from maximum comfort to track-ready stiffness.
Here, the suspension is automatically adjusted on the fly by the SCU (Suspension Control Unit), which reads the rider’s style and the road surface to adjust the damping rates via the magnetic valves in real-time.
Further adding to the feast of technology are the updated PERFORMANCE and TRACK MODES (which include a lap timer and telemetry stats) and optional ENGINE BRAKE CONTROL (available on the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R EVO) as well as an updated SUSPENSION PRO module.
Also available in a few 30 YEARS OF DUKE colorways, which are evocative of the orange scheme of the 2005 KTM 990 SUPER DUKE, are the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R and KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R EVO.
